This year we will travel together with Odysseus and we will watch his every step towards his effort to return home.

A few words about the performance

Everything starts at Mount Olympus... The gods convene, since Poseidon –enemy of Odysseus– is away on a journey. This is their chance to allow the much-afflicted hero to leave the island of Calypso where he is stranded. Hermes is the messenger who brings him the news. Calypso is angry but permits him to leave. Odysseus, on a raft, starts on his long-sought return.

To his misfortune, Poseidon sees him while he returns from his journey. He becomes angry and conjures up a storm breaking up the raft. Odysseus, shipwrecked, is washed out at the island of Phaeacians. There the princess Nausicaa finds him and leads him to her parents, who provide him shelter and food.

He reveals himself and he starts to narrate his adventures... First at the Cicones, with twelve ships, then at the Lotus Eaters, in Aeolis and the Laestrygonians and then to Circe. He describes his descend into the underworld, the ordeal of the Sirens, Scylla and Charybdis, the journey to the island of the Sun and his arrival at the island of Calypso. The kings of the Phaeacians, moved by his story, send him with a magical ship to Ithaca. So, Odysseus reaches his beautiful homeland...

From the 31st of October 2010 "THEATRON" and Karmen Rouggeri await their fellow-travelers in Odysseus' long and difficult journey to Ithaca...
