Andris Nelsons, the sensational young conductor from Latvia, conducts the Berliner Philharmoniker in a three–part programme, Symphonic Worlds, broadcast live from the Philharmonie, Berlin in High Definition and 5.1 Surround Sound.
Mozart’s youthful and joyful symphony No. 33 is followed by one of the most imposingly dramatic Wagner Overtures, and the concert finishes with Shostakovich’s sixth symphony – a work that was originally planned as a grand statement in homage to Lenin, but was eventually completed as a much more personal musical statement.
This exclusive live event will begin with an introductory feature of interviews and behind–the–scenes footage.
Program:
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Symphony No. 33 in B flat major, K. 319
Richard Wagner: Overture to ‘Tannhauser’
Dmitri Shostakovich: Symphonie No. 6 in B minor, op. 54
